one

Costa Rica is a popular country for the young and old alike to gain residency. And it’s no wonder, with the mountain jungles and beautiful beaches, retirees and young digital nomads are flocking to this small spot of land. Whether you are applying for temporary or long-term residency, you will need similar documents. And all of those documents require an apostille. But don’t worry; we can help you apostille documents for Costa Rica residency.

Apostille Documents for Costa Rica Residency

An apostille authenticates a document. It validates the seals and signatures of the paperwork, letting other countries know this is a genuine document. The Hague Convention of 1961 established a uniform way for all member countries to accept the validity of a document. And that is the apostille. Non-member countries require the documents to obtain embassy legalization.

Temporary residency in Costa Rica can be for retirees or digital nomads. But be ready to show proof of current and future income. For retirees, you must show a steady monthly income of at least $1,000.00.

Some required documents are:

  • Birth certificate
  • FBI background check
  • Marriage certificate if your spouse is applying for residency
  • Proof of income – this can be your Social Security Letter
  • Certified copy of the entire passport
  • And more

And all of these documents require an apostille and translation. This is where we come in. We can help you obtain the apostille and certified translation for each document.

Let One Source Process Obtain Your Apostilles

Each document needs its own apostille. And that can be confusing and time-consuming for you.

For example,

  • Your birth certificate is a state-issued document and must receive authentication from the Secretary of State before applying for the apostille.
  • The FBI background check is a federally-issued document. It does not need authentication from the Secretary of State but goes directly to the US Department of State in Washington, DC, for the apostille.

We can handle this all for you. Plus – we also offer certified translation of the document and the apostille. There is no need to find another company to do this for you.

Our ordering process is easy:

  • Simply fill out the Order Form here – telling us what documents need the apostille and specify that you need certified translation.
  • Next, upload all documents.
  • We will review all paperwork for FREE and let you know of any missing or wrong information.
  • When ready, we will send you a payment invoice and timeline for completion.

That’s it! We will obtain the apostille for state and federally-issued documents and get you the certified translation that Costa Rica requires. And we will do it all with amazing customer service.

We are available 7 days a week. Please Contact Us here if you have any questions before or during the apostille process.

We look forward to working with you.

Pura Vida!

      Hello David,

The processing for the standard service apostille is within 14 business days. This is not yet including shipping back your document to you mailing address which can take one or two business days. For us to provide you an itemized quote, please fill out our apostille form ( CLICK HERE ) Just to give you an idea, the standard service is $175 for the apostille and domestic shipping is $35 for two days and $45 for overnight. It does not yet include the state fee where we will obtain the apostille. For notarization, we have to review your document and check if that needs notarization prior to apostille.

      Dear David,

      Thank you for your message.

Regarding the documents you mentioned, if they are not specifically listed on our website, you can simply select “other personal documents.” The webform will then provide an additional field where you can enter the exact name of your document.
In terms of fees, if you choose an expedited service at $225, any additional documents will be listed on the webform at $95 each. Please note that this does not yet include state fees and shippnig fee, which the webform will itemize for you once you select the state where the apostille needs to be obtained and your return shipping address. Also, we do not charge per page; our fees are applied per document regardless of the page count.

For Translation services, Our translators are certified by the American Translators Association, they are not sworn translate. It is $55 per page for Translation.

Please feel free to upload your documents to our webform so we can conduct a full review. This will allow us to determine if they require an apostille from the Secretary of State as a personal or business document, or from the U.S. State Department as a federal document, especially since you mentioned one was issued by a court. As a heads-up, if a document is identified as a federal document, it cannot be expedited. The U.S. State Department typically processes apostilles within 9–14 business days.
I know you have already seen our official webform, but for your reference, I have included the link again here: [CLICK HERE].

Thank you, and I look forward to reviewing your documents.

      Best regards,
      Allan Capistrano
