    My name is Sarah, and I was born in 2002 in Sacramento, California. My Parents are Canadian, who later on moved back home to Ontario, Canada.
    I need my birth certificate, which was issued in Sacramento, California, to be authenticated by the US Secretary of State in California, to be used in a foreign country.

    To be able to assign this task to your firm, I would appreciate it very much if you would kindly answer the following questions:

    1. What document(s) will you need from me to send you other than my Original California Issued Birth Certificate?
    2. What would be the Government Fees to issue their Authentication Statement, and what would be your total charges to be payable by me in advance? Any hidden cost should be stated to consider it. Prefer a detailed cost breakdown.
    3. What would be the additional charges required for each additional original, authenticated document?
    4. Your charges should exclude the courier service between your firm and me, as I intend to send my documents to you by Canadian Post- Registered mail, including a pre-paid, pre-addressed envelope to return the authenticated documents to me.
    5. Do you have to get the California State to authenticate the Birth Certificate, before the US Secretary of State in California, or do you ONLY need to authenticate the document from the US Secretary of State in California? Remember that this document would be used outside USA after I have legallized it at the foreign country’s consulate in Los Angles.
    6. What would be the time span I should expect the process to take from the day you receive my document with payment to the date I receive the finished product?

      If the country where you intend to use the birth certificate is a Hague Convention member, the document will require an apostille, which is processed directly through the California Secretary of State (state-level authentication).
