Get an Apostille in Alaska for International Document Use

When Alaskan documents need to be used abroad, a standard certified copy is not enough. An apostille certifies the authenticity of the signatures and seals on your paperwork, making it legally recognized in countries that participate in the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention.

Apostilles in Alaska are issued by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor. This applies to documents issued within the state, notarized by a commissioned Notary Public, or official certified copies of state records. If the receiving country is not a Hague Convention member, Alaska document authentication follows a different process.

Alaska Apostille Requirements

Documents must meet specific standards before submission to the Alaska Office of the Lieutenant Governor. In practice, this means some documents must be certified, while others must be notarized before submission:

  • Vital records (birth, marriage, and death certificates, divorce decrees) must be official certified copies. Photocopies are not accepted.
  • Personal and business documents, such as powers of attorney, affidavits, and corporate resolutions, must be notarized by a commissioned Alaska Notary Public before they can be submitted for an apostille.
  • Academic documents require extra attention. A school official’s signature and seal alone may not be sufficient to submit for an Alaska diploma or transcript apostille. Notarization by the school official is often required.

FBI Background Check Apostille Services in Alaska

Alaska residents applying for immigration, employment, residency, adoption, or a visa abroad sometimes need an apostille on their FBI background check. An FBI Criminal History Report is a federal document. The Alaska Office of the Lieutenant Governor has no authority to apostille it. A federal apostille request for Alaska must go through the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. Submitting it to the state office is a common oversight leading to delays in processing.

One Source Process provides FBI apostille service for Alaska residents from start to finish — confirming destination-country requirements, routing to the appropriate federal authority, and managing return shipping.

Why Choose One Source Process for Alaska Apostille Services

If accuracy and efficiency matter, having expert support can make all the difference. One Source Process can handle the details so you can move forward with confidence.

We carefully review each document before submission, checking for missing signatures, improper notarization, or outdated certified copies that could lead to rejection. We also verify state-specific requirements for every document type, so you know exactly what’s needed before getting started.

Moreover, our team ensures documents are sent to the correct authority: state-issued records to the Lieutenant Governor’s authentication office, federal documents to the U.S. Department of State, and, when required, embassy submissions for non-Hague countries.
